NY, NY

When I first moved here, I crashed at a high school friend's apt. for a couple of weeks. I was jobless, but happy to discover my new life, that is to say, of me as the New Yorker.

I had a band mate, Lucas, from my university years in LA who had moved to Brooklyn. Here we are in the industrial parts of Brooklyn around an old train track. It was an early morning from a very late night. The morning ended in paranoia as a construction manager tailed behind us for 15 minutes calling the cops on us for trespassing. Every turn we made, he followed with one of his workers. They gradually lost their distance to us, & we swiftly walked back to his apt.

Piano's Karaoke Killed the Cat - Lower Eat Side - Manhattan

Piano's is a favorite bar of mine for hanging out & watching music. It can get expensive, but a nice pit stop in the blur that is the Lower East Side in the late hour. Every Monday night, a weekly hipster happening where (you guessed it) hipsters sing their favorite 80's song to their adoring hipster crowd.

A Cold Day in Spaha - Spanish Harlem, Manhattan

One weekend, from a very warm & bizarre winter, New York had the largest snowfall since the 1940's with 27 inches of snow.

One Bloody Night

Walking home in the early morning, drunk & tired, I was punched in the jaw from a teenager from the projects. Why he punched me was beyond me. Just a cruel joke from a youth too wrapped into his pride. Not a word before or after, just laughter in the distance.
